Also, there are adjustments to ASP in Server 2008 that you may need to contact your hosting provider about.  There is a POST limit set in IIS for that.  You may want to ask your hosting provider what that is set to.

 

 

i can always FTP or do RDP to my server, but i want other users such as people i build the site for to be able to operate the CP without my help and most of them don't even know what is FTP....

Here is the answer for USPS and make sure you follow these instructions:

 

1. Go to USPS at this URL and sign up at this URL: https://secure.shippingapis.com/registration/

 

2. Call the IPCC at 1-800-344-7779 and tell them you are using a 3rd Party Shopping Cart - Candypress and to move you into production.  There should not be an issue, as our API had already been approved.

 

3. Once you recieve your login/pass, go the same page in CandyPress, and ALL you need to enter is your USPS Username. (Password not required)  NO NEED TO RUN TESTS ANYMORE.  Ignore the RUN TESTS BUTTON and simply click the Update USPS BUTTON at the bottom.

 

If you performed item number 2 above, you are now good to go.

 

While this is a simple explaination, we will update the instructions embedded into the cart as soon as possible.

 

 

Shortly I will post a quick workaround.

 

The issue is found - it relates only to the test in the panel, not the API - we will get it corrected ASAP and post a fix.

 

Apparently the test routine was still parsing the V2 version.  Should be corrected in 24 hours, and instructions/patch released.

 

 

 

 

With all due respect, that is not the issue. 

The issue is CP not working as it should when a "free" gmail account is used.

I have SMTP accounts to use, I want to use GMAIL as the SMTP server as described in the support forums and CP can and does use the GMAIL account and it almost works perfectly.

I didn't make this thread because I can't figure out how to make the cart work with any SMTP server, I made it and brought it to your attention that normal, non "Google Apps" gmail accounts do not allow the cart to work properly, or in more precise terms, Gmail changes the sender email address to the gmail account email address.

I have been using CP since version 2.5, I know the cart in and out.

What I am trying to express to you and anyone that reads this is that using gmail accounts do not work as they should with candypress. I am not saying it is your fault, nor am I demanding you issue a fix immediately, I am saying it doesn't work properly and it should be noted. 

The issue, (you say), is due to the free gmail accounts "rewrites the headers of email replacing the FROM address with your authenticated email address for SMTP".

I hope you understand now that I know how to use the cart and I know how to use pretty much any other smtp account, as long as it isn't Google's free gmail smtp, and it will work. I wanted it brought up, documented and addressed that it just does not work properly with free gmail smtp accounts.

Currently, GMAIL rewrites the headers of email replacing the FROM address with your authenticated email address for SMTP.  I believe with a paid Google Apps account, this is not the case, since the SMTP server is a different address.

 

Therefore, you have 3 choices:

 

1. Use your servers or an alternate SMTP address for sending emails out

2. Add a line to the contact form containing their email address when sending, but this will not allow you to hit REPLY

3. Open a Google Apps account - there is a free option. 

 

Unfortunately, this is a restriction of GMAIL.

 

 

For example, if you are hosting with GoDaddy, you would use their gateway to email out of your server with your credentials.  It doesnt matter where you send it. 

 

 

 

That being said, we'll have a test on our end with a gmail account we have, and either provide instructions, or a workaround.

 

You can either set an ALTERNATE Ship method called FREE, or set the option for any over $$ to free.

 

It could be the filesize of your pictures, etc.

 

I am using Gmail as the smtp for the store. Everything works great until a customer submits a contact form on the site. In these cases, the customer's email comes in with the gmail smtp email account as the reply to address, and not the actual form submitter's email address as it "should"

Gmail is setup as the store smtp.

The store emails as it should when it should.

HOWEVER

Customer submits contact form(s), (original code, no mods), and the "sender name" is the info the customer put into the form, however the sender email, "reply-to address" on the submitted forms is the gmail smtp email and NOT the email the customer put into the form.

This, of course, causes a very big issue. Customers are submitting contact forms and the site admin has no ability to respond to them.

Has anyone encountered this or familiar with this? Is there a "fix"? Surely, I can't be the first person to notice or report it.

I have no idea where the mod came from, but in any case, the field was missing, so I added the field "metacat" to my categories db in 6.2, ran the utility to verify the db, but it's still giving me the same error message as above when I try to run the import utility.  I thought that the error message would change, but apparently not.  Do you have additional ideas to get past this?  Thanks.  

Are there any hosts that you can recommend for hosting a store running candypress?  

The current host we are using is running slow and they do not know why.
